You can tell this is a family business and a labor of love! Truly the most lovely people! We had the best time with Mark on our horseback ride to Xunantunich. The horseback ride to and from the ruins was the highlight of our day, and well worth adding on to your mayan ruin tour. Mark and Carla picked us up from Cahal Pech and transported us to their beautiful farm where we met our horses for the ride to the ruins. We felt very taken care of by Mark as we made our way on the beautiful trails by the Mopan River.
Incredible tour! Our guide Clara had a vast knowledge of history and the environment. Great combination of history at the ruins and relaxation with tubing. We even saw spider monkeys on our hike. Definitely book this tour—highly recommended.
We came to Belize for our 12th anniversary. The first couple of days we were here, we had the opportunity to go on 2 tours with St. Leonard’s - Caracol/Rio Frio Cave/Big Rock Falls and the ATM cave. The first tour was guided by Jose who was very knowledgeable and honest in character. He taught us so much about not only the Mayan structures and culture, but also about the vegetation and wildlife around us. The ATM cave was guided by Elio who we felt was kind, considerate, and knowledgeable. We felt safe with him and loved that we knew exactly what the boundaries were.
From the moment Jose picked us up at our accommodation, he was wonderful — full of smiles, knowledgeable about the area, and genuinely passionate about sharing Belize with us. On the drive to cave tubing at Jaguar Paw, he shared information about the local culture and recommended other things to do in the area, which made the trip even more enjoyable. One person in our group had slight mobility issues, and Jose was incredibly patient and helpful throughout the day. He never made us feel rushed and went out of his way to ensure everyone was comfortable and able to enjoy the experience.
My 3 kids and I had an amazing time on our combo tour of horseback riding and cave tubing with St. Leonard's tours. Amazing hospitality. We had Jose as a guide for both adventures and he really did an amazing job of guiding the tour and somehow keeping my 16 year old, 13 year old, and 5 year old entertained and engaged throughout the day. We learned a lot while just having an amazing day of adventures and it really was a lot of fun for all of us. This was probably the best highlight of our entire time in Belize.
We had such a wonderful experience horse riding! From the very beginning, Jose made us feel completely comfortable and welcome. The horses were incredibly sweet, well-trained, and listened very well. You could clearly see that they are very well cared for — they looked healthy, clean, and well-groomed. It’s obvious that the team truly cares about the horses and treats them with love and respect. Riding through the beautiful area along the river was absolutely stunning.
We booked the combined ATM Cave and Xunantunich Tour with St. Leonard’s Tours. We were so happy to see that this was an option as we had limited time in San Ignacio and it was great to be able to see two amazing sites in one day. Most importantly I would like to thank our guide Elio for a wonderful day. Not only did he share his extensive knowledge of Belize and the Mayan culture, he made us laugh, and also ensured our safety while navigating the amazing ATM Cave. This is an experience that we will forever remember.
Jose was an absolutely exceptional guide! As a solo traveler I wanted an experience that felt awe inspiring, like I got to experience Belize in multiple ways and like I walked away feeling incredible and this tour and tour guide was that and more. The horses were so playful and sweet, the Mayan ruins fantastic and the journey getting there was beautiful. I’m so grateful and couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide in Jose. He truly blew me away with his knowledge, level of service and care.
My wife and I had such an enjoyable time with Jose as our guide. At the start of the day, we did the zipline, which was beautiful. We even saw monkeys! Then we did the cave tubing, and I have rarely had so much fun in my life. Jose is a fantastic tour guide, and really amped up the fun. There was hiking, swimming, jumping. Jose gave us options at various points about whether to do something a little more adventurous. I won't say everything in the review, so as to not spoil the experience for someone else. But I will just say, it was by far the funnest thing we did in Belize.
As a family of four with two teenagers, St Leonard’s horseback ride was an excellent way to see Xunantunich. We had the knowledgeable Carla and her son Mark as our guides. The horses were amiable and in good shape due to the love they receive from Carla’s family who live on site with them. At the ruins, Carla had an engaging style of drawing attention to aspects of each location by asking tour members to imagine themselves taking a role in events from ancient history. This was very engaging for us and our teenagers.
